Nintendo has launched Nintendo Account across Japan.
The new service acts as a single log-in for all current and future Nintendo platforms, including the upcoming Nintendo NX.
If you have a Nintendo Network ID (NNID) signed up with a Japanese Wii U or 3DS, you can head on over to the newly launched website and register now, or register via your favourite social media platform. Nintendo Account will encompass your NNID, and link in with Facebook, Google Plus, and Twitter.
Members can access various services including purchase history, gameplay records, as well as social elements with other members. There is also a special page called, "Discounts Just for You".
Japanese users are also reporting that from now until February 1, 2016, users will receive 100¥ back for every 1000¥ spent on the Nintendo eShop in a 24 hour period, up to a maximum spend limit of 10,000¥.
There are no details yet as to when this service will roll out to other territories, but we'll let you know just as soon as we know more.
Nintendo Account is part of Nintendo’s plan to develop smartphone games featuring popular Nintendo characters thanks to a partnership with DeNA. Nintendo believes the strategy will help spread Nintendo IP to untapped markets, essentially acting as a gateway to Nintendo’s dedicated gaming systems. The program will eventually also connect to other member services, including those used by stores, movie theaters, and theme parks.
