Karen O, the lead singer of Yeah Yeah Yeahs, has created the theme song for Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics' upcoming action game Rise of the Tomb Raider.
According to Yahoo! News, the track, which is titled "I Shall Rise," will be featured at the end of the game, as well as in upcoming promotional material. Karen O is joined by guitarist David Pajo in the song.
"I think they wanted to bring on the melodrama with this song," Karen O said in a recent interview. "They wanted something emotional with a dramatic build. It's kind of the theme of Lara's creation myth, the moment that defines her becoming an icon. It was really juicy stuff for me. I'm really into making melodramatic songs."
Rise of the Tomb Raider releases exclusively for Xbox platforms this holiday season, but is headed to both PC and PlayStation 4 in 2016. Game of Thrones composer Bobby Tahouri is behind the game's score.
