"Meltzer said that Vince was mad that the Rusev/Lana engagement story broke on TMZ and it ruined the kayfabe angle on RAW with Summer/Lana/Ziggler/Rusev. He says WWE does work with TMZ about breaking stories but Vince was not happy about this one. He talked about Lana going on social media and showing the engagement ring that Rusev bought her weeks ago, but more often then not Lana/Rusev stayed in Kayfabe most of the time but then went ahead and broke kayfabe by doing that. He could see why Vince would have a problem because he doesn't understand why you would blow your own angle the entire world can see it. Dave goes on to say he doesn't think the angle is dead but they could retool it who knows.

This is my pure speculation but this last RAW when Summer was yelling at Rusev, it sort of felt like Vince McMahon wrote that entire rant and it was him yelling at Rusev. While Rusev stood there in shame then proceeded to get slapped. Rusev in character always yells at women and treats them inferior so why now would he even care if he hurt Summers feeling. Whole angle looks like a train wreck."

Rusev reduced to jobber status now, tbh.

Do they really care? I imagine they've made and saved a fair bit of money and will have careers in other fields. Neither strike me as the type that grew up desperate to be a wrestler.

I bet Lana definitely cares. She's tried the other avenues to get on TV and failed. Miserably.

And with Rusev, he improved so much and put in so much effort in the last year, I bet getting demoted to job duty would be hard on him.

Well Triple H was able to recover after The Madison Square Garden Curtain Call. You might remember he had to job to Ultimate Warrior in 2 minutes.

But Triple H was always seen in Vince's positive eye, even back then.
