As Vendetta begins, XWA’s ring announcer Laura Watts stands in the ring, microphone in hand.
Laura Watts: ”Please welcome, at this time, Bryce Baker!”
The audience looks around in confusion, not knowing who that is, until a man steps onto the stage. This man is a decent height, fairly well built and bald, rugged, perhaps in his mid to late forties. He’s dressed in a formal business suit, black with a red tie, holding a microphone.
Bryce Baker: ”Ladies and gentlemen, my name is Bryce Baker, as you should now be fully aware. I am here, in XWA, for one reason and one reason only. No, it’s not to wrestle. I am not replacing Benjamin Weaver. I am not joining the commentary team. I am here to unleash, amongst all of you, a new breed of wrestling. At Revolutionary Wars, the main event of the evening was met with controversy, not for the match itself, but for what happened directly afterwards. A man entered the ring and attacked the champion, leaving him laid out and raising the very championship he had just fought so hard for into the air. This man, this … machine. He is my client. His ability inside of a squared circle, inside THAT squared circle, is unmatchable. His mixture of power and speed have gained him the nickname ‘The Grizzly Cheetah’ for his grizzly bear-like strength and cheetah-like agility. He can grapple with the best of them. He can trade blows with the best of them. He can apply any damn submission known to man with perfection and he can soar through the skies as majestically as a bird. There’s a new standard bearer in XWA and his name is Logan Wilson!”
The HBO instrumental edit of 50 Cent’s “Ready For War” hits as red, gold and white lights surround the arena. While Bryce steps to the side of the stage, Logan walks through the curtain with his arms spread wide, his face looking up, as he slowly spins around, stopping in the immediate center of the stage, facing the ring. The man is dressed in black jeans and sneakers, with a red tank top and black leather jacket over it. He lowers his head to turn his focus on the squared circle and begins his march to it, with his manager by his side. The audience is relatively quiet through all of this, as they aren’t sure how to react. Upon reaching the ring, Baker walks up the steel steps first, with Logan following behind him. He pushes down on the middle rope with his leg whilst pulling the top rope up to make it easier for Logan to enter the ring and then he follows in after him. In the ring, Wilson heads to the center of it and faces away from the ramp, again putting his arms out and looking up as Baker applauds him with clapping.
Bryce Baker: “Logan, here, is what one would call a ‘wrestler’. He is not a sports entertainer. He is not an actor. He is not a showman. He is wrestling personified. I can go on and on all day and all night about how inconceivably talented this man is, but actions speak much louder than words. Tonight, you will witness, first hand, what this man can do when he makes his debut against the winner of Revolutionary Wars’ Million Dollar Chamber, Mark Storey.”
The audience lets out a mixed reaction at the mention of Mark Storey, some booing the arrogant man’s name while others cheer for the idea of Mark facing this unknown man.
Bryce Baker: ”Not only will he face – and beat – the Million Dollar Champion tonight, but he will be doing it in the main event of the evening. I apologize in advance to Mark Storey, for every bit of momentum he had earned at Revolutionary Wars will wither away to nothing tonight when he goes up against Logan. Now, you’ve still got your anytime, anywhere shot at the World Heavyweight Championship regardless of the outcome tonight, but I’m gonna let you in on a little secret. Benjamin Weaver signed my client to a contract to compete for XWA, but there was a little catch. Most people start from the bottom and they work their way to the top, only reaching the pinnacle of XWA with time and effort. But here’s how reality works. If you’re that damn good, you don’t wait. That’s why we had it printed into Logan’s contract that if he signs, he faces the World Heavyweight Champion at King of Xtreme for the gold!”
Ted Cedar: ”Wait, what?! Logan has a championship shot already? He didn’t even have a match yet!”
David Michaels: ”I sure as hell hope Benjamin knew what he was doing when he made that contract.”
Bryce Baker: ”So, Mark, here’s my suggestion to you. Tonight, after Logan hands you your own ass, you take that Million Dollar Championship and the free title match that comes with it and you throw it away. You give up on your dream of becoming the XWA World Heavyweight Champion and maybe aim a little lower. Because when Logan faces Razor at King of Xtreme, he’s not just gonna win, he’s gonna decimate. He’s gonna tear the so-called champion limb from limb. He’s gonna walk out of Las Vegas, Nevada as the new XWA Heavyweight Champion of the World and he’s gonna obliterate each and every single competitor who has the misfortune of crossing paths with him afterwards. That includes you, Mark, and that also includes whoever is dreaming of main eventing XtremeMania as the winner of the King of Xtreme tournament. As for Razor … congratulations. By the time King of Xtreme comes around, you’ll hold the record for the longest World Heavyweight Championship reign in XWA history. That’s a big accomplishment. Take that as a win, but don’t get greedy. Your time in the spotlight is soon up. Your replacement is here. You like to consider yourself a God of sorts, right? That’s fine, because Logan isn’t a God. He is what the Gods aspire to be. Train hard and bring your A game, Mr. Xtreme. When Logan beats you, we want the world to know that he just made XWA’s God his bitch.”
Logan smiles wide at the last statement by Bryce as his manager motions for him to exit the ring, so they can head to the back. He stops himself, however, seemingly remembering something.
Bryce Baker: ”Oh, by the way, since we’re feeling generous, Mr. Xtreme, we’ll let you choose the stipulation for the match on the twenty-seventh of October. Pick whatever you wish because, in the end, Logan can and will top you every time.”
He tosses the microphone as “Ready For War” hits again. The two men exit the ring, as the fans aren’t sure what to make of the duo just yet.
Ted Cedar: ”I don’t know what to think. Clearly there’s no confidence problem for these two, but is this Logan really that good?”
David Michaels: ”For his sake, he better be.”
The show cuts to the first commercial break of the night.
