Spoiler:

Key Points:

"On more than one occasion he had pushed to buy UFC when the price was something WWF could afford, but in the end, the decision was turned down, and he saw UFC explode to something that is considered more valuable than WWE."

"In 2006, when ECW was resurrected, Shane had pushed for it to be done as a separate company (think WEC and UFC) with him in charge, doing the old ECW style as being the young McMahon with the edgy product designed as a web-only broadcast,"

Man, I'd love to get a glimpse of what the product would be like if Shane had been able to pursue any of those ideas. Seems like he was very ahead of the game with the web-only broadcast (heh get it, cuz Haitch is "the game" lololo)

This was a fascinating read though, and I can totally appreciate how dissatisfied he must have felt after all those years of being shut-down by Vince. Especially knowing that Hunter and Steph were being groomed to take over the company.

Am I right in saying Vince and Shane have had issues with one another ever since Shane was little? Not sure where I heard that or if if it's even correct, but wouldn't shock me.

But yeah, Shane appeared to be ahead of the curve with that stuff. Shocked they didn't buy the UFC tbh, as they went through a period in the late 90s where they were promoting MMA type storylines pretty often. We would have never of had to know Dana White was in fact a man's name...

And didn't WWF want to do the same type of thing when they bought WCW, still run it as a seperate company, but they simply couldn't get a TV deal for Nitro?

Well, yeah, kind of. Their original plan was for them to take Raw's TV slot and WWF to go to Thursday only. They backed out of it, mostly, because guys like Pat Patterson and other high ranking officials warned Vince that failing in wrestling (WCW) so soon after failing with XFL could be a death sentence for the promotion.

He wanted to move Raw to Thursday (or just use Smackdown?) and give Nitro their prime TV slot? Vince really is insane...

I'm glad they didn't keep WCW going, as it all would have just eventually folded into the WWF anyway.

Just Smackdown. His original plan was for WCW to get the Monday night slot. He didn't want to do the invasion angle, either. He wanted them to be completely separate and competitive but under his terms. He was fearful of burning out his top guys both physically but also to the TV audience.
