WWE Diva and former NXT Champion Charlotte caused a bit of a buzz tonight after a video package on her aired on Smackdown, and featured her speaking out about her ambitious career plans.

"The NXT Divas have come up and said 'Hey this is a revolution, we're changing the game,' That's my focus. I will main event WrestleMania," Charlotte said.

To date, no female has main-evented WrestleMania, even in the slots in which WWE often promotes multiple main-events as being on the show. Charlotte cited UFC Women's Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey as paving the way for women headlining shows.

"Look at Ronda Rousey, the highest grossing fighter right now. That's where the Divas division is going. The sky is the limit for me, and I plan to go places no other Diva has been before," said Charlotte in the video.

Rousey, who appeared at this year's WrestleMania is fresh off of headlining UFC 190, which looks to have done around one million pay-per-view buys.

No divas match will close out Wrestlemania. This is a major pipe dream for those who think this could ever happen.

OMG, I predicted a storyline like this a while back and everyone thought I was silly. I suggested a storyline to really help the divas revolution where Charlotte would continuously impress, week after week, putting on great matches, but whenever she'd talk to Ric, he'd just be indifferent about it. Then she finds out it's cause she's a woman and he doesn't take female wrestler's accomplishments as seriously as men's, the storyline would end with her main eventing Summerslam and winning the title, which would impress Ric.

They'd have to start main eventing PPVs first. If she was in TNA along with the rest of the top divas, I could see it since TNA has been taking their female talent serious for years now.

A Divas match ain't closing Mania. It doesn't matter if it had 3 Ronda Rousey's that could draw in it, it just won't happen.

It's a written promo, it's not like Charlotte is actually saying this.

I like how people keep saying a divas match won't close WM. That's not what she said. She said she wants to main event. The article mentions that WWE often times promotes multiple main events for WM, so it's not always just the closer that's counted as a main event.

That said, I still don't see a divas match ever being counted as one of WrestleMania's main event matches. They were lucky to get a RAW main even, with how little the WWE cares about that division.

A main event match can be billed on the pre-show, it doesn't matter. WWE will never put that much promotion behind a Divas match. The only thing that will ever come close is matches involving Ronda Rousey and even then, it's promotion will be based purely on sticking her name everywhere.

WWE can't be bothered focusing on the Divas full time and they never will. As long as they can get one or two names that stick out at any one time, they are more than happy and the division is a success in their eyes.

WWE is not going to make the divas draw. They can say that they're in a "main event" match but it's not going to mean anything to anyone. They called several World Heavyweight Title matches "main events" and they meant nothing because they were the opener to the show.

I mean I guess she might "main event" WM if they go with a Ronda Rousey vs Charlotte match.

The main event is literally the last match of the night. When she says "i want to main event Wrestlemania", people arent going to think she means a match that's 5th on the card with somewhat of a developed buildup. They're going to assume she wants that big spotlight, that last match of the night to really shine. It wont happen in this lifetime.

WrestleMania 22 had TWO Main Event Matches:
John Cena vs. Triple H (Which was the last match: #12)
Kurt Angle vs. Randy Orton vs. Rey Mysterio (Match #10)

WrestleMania 2o also had TWO Main Event Matches:
Triple H vs. Shawn Michaels vs. Chris Benoit (Last match: #12)
Eddie Guerrero vs. Kurt Angle (Match #10)

Now before you or anyone goes "THAT WAS DURING THE BRAND SPLIT!!! IT DOESN'T COUNT!!!" alright, fine. WrestleMania 29. There was a triple main event. Yes, the belts were still separated, however, two of the main events didn't involve a belt.

Undertaker vs. CM Punk (Match #7)
Triple H vs. Brock Lesnar (Match #8)
The Rock vs. John Cena (Match #9)

So yes, it's possible for divas to be in a main event match. The problem is the story has to hook others and be of high caliber. It has nothing to do with being the last match on the card.
