The Amazon warrior known as Xena may make a return to television.
Originally airing between 1995 and 2001, Xena: Warrior Princess was a spin-off from the show Hercules about a female warrior on a quest for redemption. The Hollywood Reporter claims she may once again brandish her sword.
Producers Rob Tapert and Sam Raimi of the original Xena are attached, and production is currently in a very early stage. So early, in fact, reports claim they're still looking for a writer.
The show is likely to be a "modern reboot," although it's unclear whether original actress Lucy Lawless will reprise her role, or if it will be given to someone else. Regardless, Lawless is expected to have a role either on-screen or in the background of production.
According to THR, NBC will air the show sometime in 2016. In its previous six-season run, Xena: Warrior Princess was a cult hit, consistently being one of the top five syndicated programs during its time.
If it is greenlit, it will join a recent string of TV show revivals, the most recent of which being 24 and the upcoming X-Files miniseries.
