Jim ranted about how wrestling, especially in the indies, are too fast. That they worry more about flips, high spots, instead of in ring psychology, selling and pace of the match.

Is wrestling too fast now?

Nope. Ruthless Aggression and after, matches havent been about psychology but entertainment. People will get bored with 4 minute headlocks.

I think companies try to do insane shit every week to the point it gets boring. Saving some stuff up, creating a quality build, leading up to a large event should be done.

Like, I don't watch indys, but judging by the videos posted on here I've seen three different people do giant ass leaps in that Lucha Underground place. Doing crazy shit often makes people want more and, ultimately, not really get it.

IMO anyway. But I dunno' if people have the attention span any more for that. People have so much content in life in general and want stuff ten minutes ago, not months into the future.

Matches don't have to be either good with Ring Psychology or Spot Fests in my opinion. Ring Psychology, to me, should just be about telling a story in the ring through whatever means gets the story across. If you want to have a spot fest, just sell and make it a believable spot fest.

^ Agreed. Some matches can be great and they can just be 15 minutes of brawling.

Spots have to make sense, though. Doing a spot just because it will look good on a highlight reel takes me out of the match, but a well-timed spot can make for something memorable. Neville's a good example of a guy who can do a lot of spots, but in a way that feels natural in the match.

I hate spots that are set up moments before they happen. By that I mean, for example, someone leaping off a ladder and putting their opponent through a table...and a minute before the ladder and table were all set up.

I prefer it when spots (involving objects) take time to happen over a match. Someone sets up a table, but then gets attacked early on in the match and then ten minutes later, someone is put through that table.

Jim also needs to realize that when a rest hold or something happens that slows the pace down, the crowd starts to lose interest. It's not the olden days where people were excited over a technical match and while some of those can be really fun to watch, the modern audience has ADD and if something's not catching their attention, they won't care.

He said this about Ring of Honor. The thing is ROH matches are a lot slower then they were in 2005.

I don't think they need to slow down. I think the wrestling style is a way to great way to set them apart from WWE.
