National Wrestling Alliance: "Death is Only the Beginning" NWA_Logo

July 4, 2014

Word has just come out that the National Wrestling Alliance has closed its doors. In a surprising and unexpected series of events that have only just come to light, NWA ownership was quietly been sold to an unknown buyer and before the night was out, it's wrestlers and staff were out of jobs and left in confusion at what feels reminiscent of WCW's last days—though at least then the guys didn't sit down for dinner with a job and finish unemployed.

With the buyout, this unknown owner holds the rights to the entirety of the NWA library, titles, and their complete history.

July 5, 2014

Earlier this morning we received a message from a person claiming to be the man behind the recent purchase of NWA.

The Death of the NWA

Yesterday a country celebrated the birth of a nation, while the wrestling world mourned the death of a legacy. Questions and rumors, and rumors of questions are abound. Everyone wants to know how. Everyone wants to know why... Everyone wants to know who...Who killed the NWA? I would love to confess as I present the knife in my bloodied hands, but in truth, I am innocent of this crime. My part could be likened to the gravediggers covering the hole after the funeral's mourners take their leave. To put it true, the NWA killed the NWA. The world is an every changing machine and if you do not change with it, you become obsolete. The NWA that walked the Earth just days ago was a ghost, and I have relieved that ghost its tether to this earthly world and put it to rest at last.

To all of you who read this now and wonder simply...why? To this I say a phrase that rings no truer than here: What is dead may never die, but rises again. Harder, and stronger.

Regards,
Jack Donovan

It's been just over a week since the man, Jack Donovan, verified to the wrestling world that the National Wrestling Alliance was indeed defunct, but with his closing words he is said to have hinted that all may not be what it seems. Indeed upon this reporting, a number of wrestlers are rumored to have been contacted in regards to working for the company and the early word coming out is that a lot of zeros are being lain on the table.

For What It's Worth

I have a vision for the future of the wrestling business. To remain as you are is to lie down in your own grave for the long sleep. The model of how this industry works is a relic. A new mold must be created. A new standard set. I have burned down the church, and on this charred earth I shall form my new congregation.

The rumors are true, and wrestlers have been contacted. As to who they are, that will become known in due time.

Big big news coming out of the San Diego Comic Con today. Netflix has just announced that they will be streaming NWA on their service January 2015. The panel stated that it will be different from any other wrestling product anyone has ever seen and the company is said to have high hopes for it. Those in attendance noted that there was no other individual on the panel aside from the Netflix representatives.

A recent building development in Los Angeles has been confirmed as the location of the upcoming NWA show on Netflix. Though not nearly completed, the facility is speculated to hold around 1,500 people. A lot of money is being spent on the production values for this show as well, so fans should expect to see a high quality presentation.

September 19, 2014

Netflix has officially put a name to NWA's show and it will be known as NWA LiveWire. Adding to this, the format of the shows will be on a weekly model and once a month there will be a Sunday special released, the names of which we have yet to be informed on.

September 23, 2014

The word coming out now is that Adam Cole has just inked a deal with the company and many believe this upcoming promotion will put their focus around this well rounded star.

October 1, 2014

In what may shed light on the NWA situation, acting coaches are reported to have been drilling the wrestlers in preparation for the show and the news as of late is that the company plans to begin filming later this week. This runs contradictory to earlier reports of a weekly taping.

October 17, 2014

Filming is said to be in full swing for NWA LiveWire. We noted in earlier reports that the production values for this show are said to be high-- a film crew has been spotted in several locations with the wrestlers and early signs show that there will be a large focus on out of ring storyline focus as those who witnessed the filming from afar likened it to the making of a movie or television show.

November 25, 2014

NWA LiveWire has reportedly completed all the necessary filming prior to the show's debut on Netflix. News coming out of the filming states that aside from the wrestlers, much of the staff will be comprised of actors, including the announce team—who we are told play greater roles than simply calling the matches.

December 8, 2014

With each passing day, Friday January 2nd looms ever closer and with it, the debut of NWA LiveWire. Released today were the names of the major shows to be presented. Not shown are additional shows and events that we are sure to be informed on at a later date.

January First Contact
March Road to Gold
May King of Wrestling
July Great American Bash
September Starrcade
December Chapter Close

Posted just moments ago on NWA's website:

A Late Christmas Gift

The wait is nearly over. For months you've heard the news, seen the shots from the filming, and whispered and gossiped to your hearts content. To ebb your curiosity before it's arrival, NWA Unlimited is a television show centered around wrestling, as opposed to a wrestling television show. Just over a week from now you'll witness a new era in professional wrestling and television itself. Just a little longer.

^NWA could still have it's affiliates, but they also have a core group of wrestlers that they focus on. In addition, at times they have had a main promotion. At one point it was NWA TNA, another was NWA Anarchy and most recently Championship Wrestling from Hollywood. In this story, the board of directors is still present (i just didnt add that detail) but majority holding of the company belongs to Jack Donovan. So "dead" or "defunct" only means the main belts were out of circulation for the time being as the company was remodeled for the reboot under a brand.

Plus I just wanted to make a fed without having to worry about history yet not truly doing a completely made up company. I have history to fall back on here.
