Oculus duo Mike Flanagan and Jeff Howard have penned a sequel to Ouija that Universal Pictures will release in theaters October 21, 2016.

Actually the fact it made so much money means it was successful regardless of whether or not it was bad. If it flopped, it would of either underperformed or barely recouped its budget.
