Vertigo has left the fed for awhile. Take this as either a free victory or the match never happened.

M4.) Vertigo vs James Best | Singles Match Empty

The intensity is layered on thick inside the Dunkin Doughnuts Center in Providence as two very different stars stand head to head.  The Rhode Island crowd clearly cheer the bright new star Vertigo over James Best, still very much annoyed with the new number one contender after his shocking culinary assault earlier.   Vertigo extends his hand in an act of good sportsmanship; only James screws his face up, reluctantly shaking back with a grimace on his face and the referee flags to the timekeeper for the match to start.  Ding Ding Ding!  Both men close in for the usual test of strength yet James breaks off at the last minute, shuddering and shaking his head, Vertigo relaxes and stops and stares, clapping at James to get on with it and both men engage one another for the second time, yet James turns away yet again, this time with his hand over his eyes, approaching referee Ryu Sanu and leaning into his ear mumbling something.  Ryu Sanu rears back in surprise, yet James again leans into his ear this time picked up by the cameraman.  “I can’t wrestle like this; I have a legitimate phobia of clowns.  Make him take it off.”  James demands and the referee reluctantly calls for a towel from the ringside lackeys, stating “I’m sorry Vertigo; you’re going to have to get rid of the face-paint.”

Ted Cedar:  This is just nonsense.  A fear of clowns, James?  Really?

David Michaels:  Haha!  I actually think its pretty damn funny, the guys a prick but still!

Boos fill the air as Vertigo looks down at the towel and back at Ryu, then James, shaking his head as he presses his face into the towel only to fling it back at James and kick the author deep in the gut!  James doubles over, struggling to stand blinded by the towel and Vertigo is already running off the ring ropes in a full-blown sprint, blasting Best in the face with a flying clothesline!  James hits the mat hard and immediately rolls to the ringside to regroup, throwing the towel aside with a scowl on his face, looking up to see an incoming Vertigo with a baseball slide, connecting square in the face and James spins about from the ring apron dramatically, checking his lip as he stumbles back only to look up and gasp as Vertigo, already at the top turnbuckle, flies through the air and flattens James with a Moonsault!!

David Michaels:  GET HIM CLOWN GUY! GET HIM!!

Vertigo arches his body back with a vocal howl into the night, picking James up by the head and neck and taking him over to the crowd barricade, scooping him into the air only to drop him right on top of the barricade with a front Suplex, James flails his arms and spins on the axis of his left boot to hang across the barricade and Vertigo unleashes a fragment of his fury with a punishing knife-edged chop to the chest!  The crowds rejoice as James stumbles across the barricade, Vertigo holding him into place for another wild chop and the sheer CRACK sound of brutalized flesh gets a big pop from the fans. Vertigo grabs hold of the would-be best-selling author’s shoulder and propels him forward at the steel steps, yet James turns the tables with a reversal and drops flat on the floor, sending Vertigo violently crashing into the aluminum side-on with a dramatic CLANG confirming the impact!  Vertigo stumbles a few steps to a hunch, trying to push himself back to a vertical base, clutching his shoulder but James snatches him up into a hammerlock and rams “The Rogue” right into the outer face of the ringpost, mercilessly scooping him high before dropping him knee first on the ring apron with a running shin breaker!

David Michaels:  Ouch!!

James Best snarls in disgust, briefly glancing at the referee above him, the Japanese official in an absolute fit and counting aloud.  James Best points at him shouting “Stop counting or I’ll have your guts for garters mate!” to which Ryu Sanu hesitates, defiantly shouting “SIX!” and James Best slides into the ring, nudging closer to the referee nose to nose yet Vertigo, back on his feet, reaches into the ring and grabs hold of James’ shins, tearing Best off his feet and dragging his legs beneath the bottom rope into a dangle off the edge of the apron, Vertigo grabbing hold of the top rope and slingshotting into an incredible elbow drop which punches deep into James sternum!  The Australian-born Englishman is flabbergasted, rolling about and onto his feet in wide-eyed shock, coughing profusely as Vertigo hobbles momentarily before clobbering James with an Enzuigiri, tagging Best behind the ear and dropping him flat on the mat.  Vertigo clambers up the turnbuckle, thinking shooting star press and taking much more time to stabilize himself than usual, given his painted opponent’s troubled leg and James, having sped-rested in a panic, takes full advantage of the balance issue, scrambling back onto his feet and throwing himself at the ring ropes, shoulder tackling them and knocking Vertigo into a violent drop across the top rope, right on the little Vertigos.

David Michaels:  I think we all felt that one!!

Ted Cedar:  You’re not wrong David, Vertigo’s errr… valuables dropped on the top rope!  He’s going to feel that for weeks!

James rocks the top rope to the point where Vertigo is flung off the wire in the rebound and the colorful high-flyer hits the mat, groaning and looking up at Best who cruelly clobbers Vertigo with a kick to the temple, nudging Vertigo toward the ring ropes and shoving him into a helpless drop on the floor, Best casually rolling out behind him with a petty grimace on his face, pummelling Vertigo with stiff punches laying the new star out before mounting him and grappling him up in a clinch-like hold, rearing his knees back and brutally slamming Vertigos head with them in repeated fashion!  The referee tries to intervene but James Best is going ballistic, bludgeoning “The Rogue” senseless with knee lift after knee lift, picking him up only to decimate Vertigos face into the thin rubber mats with an immense Writers Block ace crusher, slamming Vertigo cheekbone first, which violently cracks and James sits there staring menacingly into the camera as the referee reaches the count of ten.

Ding Ding Ding!!!

Announcer Chick
“This match has ended by double countout!”

David Michaels:  Well that was anti-climactic!!  He didn’t even try to win!

Ted Cedar:  Who the hell is this new James Best!  Oh my dear god!

James simply stands up, dusting off his tights and turning back to inspect his handiwork, swaggering back up the ramp and the show goes on.
