According to a report from Latino Review, writer and director Drew Goddard has apparently been moved off the planned Sinister Six film, and he is now in line to direct the next solo outing for a far more prestigious character, Marvel’s friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. Goddard will reportedly write and direct the upcoming solo Spider-Man cinematic reboot, which will be set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and will be produced by Amy Pascal, Kevin Feige and his team at Marvel Studios.
The new version of Spider-Man will first appear in a Marvel Cinematic Universe film, most likely believed to be Captain America: Civil War in 2016, before the release of the next solo Wall Crawler film in July 2017. Goddard was previously attached to the Netflix Daredevil series as the showrunner before he shifted to the Sinister Six film. Hopefully, he has now settled with an upcoming Marvel project.
Sony and Marvel have not yet officially confirmed Goddard as director, so stay tuned. The new Spider-Man film is due out on July 28, 2016. Captain America: Civil War hits theaters on May 6, 2016.
