The XWA High Five Empty
PostSubject: The XWA High Five   The XWA High Five EmptyTue Jun 24, 2014 2:59 am

I figured it might be a good idea to have a thread for everyone to post their five favorite wrestlers from time to time and a little bit about why we're marking for them.

So let me introduce to you: The XWA High Five.

I put it here so people could mix and match guys from different promotions instead of putting it in the WWe or TNA or Indy threads.

Try to limit it to five at a time, knowing things change and you can come back and drop someone (or everyone) out at any time for any reason, and as a ground rule all tag teams and/or factions (i.e. the Shield or the Wyatts) should be considered as one entry.

So here is my initial High Five:

1) Dean Ambrose: I never wanted the Shield to break up, but it has allowed Dean to step into the spotlight and show what all us Jon Moxley marks have seen all along. Best mic worker in the business IMO right now, and his facial expressions are spot-on. I think this is the start of something that's going to be really, really special. Look up 'it factor' and you'll see a picture of Ambrose.

2) Jay Briscoe: If you've been following ROH closely, you have seen Jay transform himself from one of the Demboys brothers to a personality and entity all his own. His look, his in-ring style, his promos -- all of it have set him apart dating back to his injury-interrupted title run and his emergence with his own championship belt ... and breakout as a solo artist. I cannot take my eyes off him no matter what he's doing.

3) Bo Dallas: They are really moving this along well and he is getting his "heel who thinks he's a face" gimmick over. Someone on Twitter suggested he needs to introduce a submission hold and then encourage the other guy not to tap while he locks it in for the win. I bo-lieve, and I think he is only beginning to scratch the surface.

4) Stardust: Cody is always great with gimmicks, the more far-fetched the better. He has fun and understands how to gradually fill out a character. Sit back and enjoy the show as long as this lasts.

5) Brock Lesnar: He broke the Undertaker's undefeated streak at Wrestlemania. Absence makes the heart grow fonder, and I can't wait until he returns. I think having him away and not getting stale after the most significant event in WWE memory is perfect and will only make him seem bigger and badder when he is back.

1. Michael Elgin

He's been my favorite wrestler for a long time now. I'm glade they finally put The ROH World Championship on him. He always seems to steal the show and more than anything that's what The ROH World Champion should do.

2. Shinsuke Nakamura

I'm trying to watch more and more New Japan Pro Wrestling. Out of everyone that came over from Japan for the ROH shows over here I thought he was the best.

3. reDRagon

They have been very entertaining with their YouTube promos. They're awesome in the ring. The only stinker they really been in is their match with Outlaw Inc.

4. Tommaso Ciampa

I loved this guy since I saw him debut on ROH TV. He got way better in the ring and he comes off as a real badass.

5. Silas Young

I really love the "Last Real Man" stuff he's doing. He's good in the ring and I hope ROH continues to have him wrestle Steen.

Oddly enough, Evan Bourne might be the most out-of-date person on the list at least as far as when he last wrestled (I was going to say 'was relevant,' but was he ever?).

Not sure what Spanky DiCaprio Kendrick has been up to so not sure.

If Punk counts, Punk is definitely no. 1. If he doesn't...

1. Roman Reigns - since CM Punk left, Reigns is my favorite singles wrestler.
2. Seth Rollins - Due to recent stuff, he is seriously competing with Reigns for my number 1 spot.
3. Dean Ambrose - Still love Ambrose.
4. Antonio Cesaro - Love everything about Cesaro.
5. John Cena - Despite almost matching Flair's record in titles and being the biggest guy on the roster, still massively underrated by the fans.

1. Dolph Ziggler

He's been given some really poor advice backstage. He's been given a gimmick, in my opinion, doomed to fail. I don't think WWE, for whatever reason, really wants Dolph to succeed. Despite his shortcomings in kayfabe, he's still one of the most gifted performers in the business with a great look and passion that shines through and perhaps gets him in trouble at times. If you want an example of what I mean, see that elbow that nailed him in the jaw. There is no real good way to take that, but Dolph gladly took the spot because it was what he thought the fans wanted to see.

2. Kazuchika Okada

I really don't understand why he's not in the USA. TNA really shit the bed with him. I get that he's big in Japan, but Muta came to WCW for a reason. There is more money here, and he's got superstar written all over him. You don't have to talk to get over when you have the right look and they let you get over in the ring. Okada could be a superstar.

3. Bray Wyatt

The best talker of his generation and an excellent worker for his size. Put to bed (hopefully) the bullshit about size killing look. (Fuck everyone who played a role in burying Samoa Joe) Plays the role of badass well in the ring. Strength catches you off guard at times.

4. Daniel Bryan

I like John Cena, but Daniel Bryan should pull a Michaels and find a way not to drop the "face of the company" role he took at WM30 back to John Cena.

5. Austin Aries

The best thing TNA has going, in my opinion. Hopefully TNA invests in the stars that can still be during this "reboot." I'm pulling for them.

1. Shinsuke Nakamura

This guy is the best. He's crazy good.

2. AJ Styles

I always liked Styles and it's cool to see how over The Styles Clash has gotten. I wonder if New Japan will put the IWGP belt back on him.

3. Jay Briscoe

I'm loving him as ROH World Champion. He's a great mix of serious and crazy. If anyone else wanted that four way match I would have thought it was stupid booking.

4. Jay Lethal

He's been great as World Television Champion. Unlike all the other mid-card champion here in The States people see him as a star and almost, if not on, the level of Jay Briscoe. I hope he's able to become ROH World Champion before he becomes too old.

5. reDRagon

They're still my favorite tag team. I think they're better than The Young Bucks.

Michael Elgin fell off the list for the goofy ass things that happened and what ROH did afterwards. It really did kill off all his steam.

I still love Tommaso Ciampa. I wish ROH booked this guy better.

Silas Young got injured but he's returning soon.
