Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain will feature a tongue-in-cheek chicken hat to make the open-world stealth game easier.
Publisher Konami has revealed new images of the item, which glows in the dark and slows enemy reactions.
The item will be offered to players after a certain number of deaths or mission failures.
The hat was first announced in a three-hour long community live stream by series creator Hideo Kojima on Christmas Day, who reportedly fooled players into thinking it was a more substantial announcement, according to Kotaku.
Last month, Kojima revealed a reboot of Metal Gear Online that will ship with Phantom Pain.
The teaser for the team-based multiplayer game showcased a number of features, including tagging enemies, distracting enemies with toys and taking selfies.
The Phantom Pain's prequel, Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes, was released on PC in December, and given a patch in the New Year to fix a number of issues.
