Orlando Bloom has revealed Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales may act as a soft reboot for the franchise.

Speaking to IGN to promote The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies, Bloom explained he's still in talks to return. Though he hasn't signed on the dotted line just yet, the potential plot is intriguing him.

"I’m not entirely sure that [I'll be back] just yet, but there are talks," he said. "Basically they want to reboot the whole franchise, I think, and do something with me and the relationship with my son.

"I’m of course Davey Jones now, so I’m down the bottom of the ocean. It might be kind of fun to do something where I’m rumbling round the bottom of the ocean, because I won’t look anything like me. [Gestures to face] Get all gnarly."

We currently know that Johnny Depp will be reprising his role as Captain Jack Sparrow, though the rest of the cast is a little less clear. Geoffrey Rush is rumoured to be back as Barbossa, while the Javier Bardem is the front-runner to play new villain Captain Brand, a ghost bent on revenge against Sparrow, who he blames for the murder of his brother.

Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg (Kon-Tiki) will direct Pirates 5, which is set to shoot in Australia in early 2015 for a July 2017 release.
