During CM Punk’s tell all interview with Colt Cabana, he focused in on Ryback. He said his programs with Ryback took “twenty years” off his life and referred to him as “steroid guy.” Punk detailed a blown table spot he did with Ryback, where The Big Guy missed the table and injured him. He claimed to ask Ryback if he was doing the stuff intentionally.

We covered the aftermath of the blown spot — which occurred on the September 23, 2013 episode of Monday Night Raw — in our Backstage Raw News from that week.

Below is our report from September 24, 2013 in its entirety:

We’re told Ryback took major heat over the gorilla table bump spot with CM Punk on this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw. Ryback’s only job was to put Punk through the table. Well, as seen on Raw, not only did he not direct Punk but he turned his wrist at the last second and caused Punk to almost miss the table and barely catch any of it on the way down. The nasty bump caused Punk to be legitimately busted open and receive medical attention backstage. Rather than apologize, Ryback told a producer that Punk “should have bumped better.” Punk apparently found out because he and Ryback ended up having words over it. We’re told the entire thing nearly came to blows when Curtis Axel stepped in and tried to play the role of peace maker. Triple H ended up getting involved, pulling Ryback aside and speaking with him behind closed doors.

There has been heat between Punk and Ryback ever since, with Ryback responding to Punk calling him “steroid guy” by calling Punk ”fragile and insecure.” Ryback also claimed Punk never confronted him.

How many people did Ryback injure? Like 4?

Man this reads like Ryback legitimately tried to hurt him because he thought he was dogging him in the ring.

If so, he should have been fired on the spot.

Not just this occasion, you've been 100% on Punk's side, 100% unconditionally since the beginning, like no matter what.

Also, Ryback didn't intentionally do it. He fucked up and then tried to play it off by blaming Punk for it.

What is there to be against him about?

He was going to quit in 2011 and re-signed under false pretenses as he was lied to about what would be if he re-signed. He got more over than anyone since the Attitude Era and was sabotaged by management. After they killed his momentum, they gave him a huge title run in which he had just one main event match that was a one-on-one, involving Ryback. They would use this to prove he "couldn't draw."

So after two and a half years of working a bullshit job that you only accepted because you were under false pretenses, he walks away because he had an injury that "could have killed him" a concussion that was killing his in-ring work, and

He was friends with Jericho and I'm sure they had many discussions about what was going on. Jericho said before he left in WWE that he was purposely relegated on cards to drive down his bargaining power. He said he knew WWE was going to ask him to take a pay cut, and he left before they could ask.

Punk was being fucked so WWE could pay him less than he could make while he was busting his ass. He was more over than Cena EVER was and yet he never got the big payoff to show from it.

He was fucked. Repeatedly. He went to work for over two years after Triple H and Vince sabotaged his career in the three months after he signed it.... but he didn't quit then. He quit when he physically couldn't do it anymore. We all seen his in-ring work dropping. He had fucking MRSA. That ends peoples careers in the NFL.

What the fuck am I supposed to be angry about? He didn't stick it out and inevitably end up working the Intercontinental shit or end up in a fucking tag team with The Big Show like Jericho? Fuck that. He was the most over person of our generation and they fucked him to fucking pieces. He was our Steve Austin, and because they didn't see him that way, it didn't matter how we seen him.

Well, I think you're definitely exaggerating on some of those points (IE: him being more over than Cena), but I do agree. Punk is definitely in the right here.

That said, he has done some things of his own.

-He has a huge mouth and has been very outspoken time and again (Why wouldn't management hate him?)

-He has been a huge asshole outside the ring (Remember the tweets where he attacked religious people?)

-And now, he's buried Ryback.


Not to mention you were always very defensive of the "CM Punk" chants - which before now, were retarded. Knowing what we know now, they may be justified, but before this came out, the chants were stupid.

IMO Punk headed into Money in the Bank was the most over any full time performer has been since Steve Austin and The Rock left. Some guys have had moments of glory themselves, but I think Punk's was a little bigger.

Well shit, Ryback didn't say "Punk is a douchebag. I am glad he's gone." He said what I read as "If Punk bumped better for me I wouldn't have tried to hurt him" which is pretty fucked up.

I just marked that up to bitterness. Obviously Ryback has improved... but when they were working together... Ryback was pretty dangerous. I'd be mad if I were Ryback but I think he would have been smart to chill. I think the fact that the only match he got to one-on-one main event a PPV with was against someone who didn't "earn" his spot made him just as fucking mad.

I think fans should be encouraged to chant what they want. Frankly, I still think they should chant "CM Punk" as a constant reminder to Vince and management that we didn't forget how badly the fucked Punk and we WON'T forget if they do the same thing to Daniel Bryan. I know that's not why stupid fucking mark fans are chanting it, but it doesn't bother me because hopefully it stops Vince from outright fucking Daniel Bryan in the same way.
