As we previously reported, the current plan in TNA is for Josh Mathews to replace Mike Tenay as the lead play-by-play announcer for Impact Wrestling. However, this doesn’t mean that Tenay is leaving the company. PWInsider reports that Tenay will remain involved with TNA but he’ll have a different role.

One of the reasons that Tenay has been replaced is because of where he lives. Tenay lives in Las Vegas, Nevada and has to be flown in for nearly all TNA events, which is more costly to TNA. Mathews is working out of the TNA offices in Nashville. Since the new TV deal will give the company less money to work with starting out, it’s expected they are going to cut costs where they can.

I know a promotion that's going to be doing a lot of TV tapings in Las Vegas nervous
