/Film reports that the plot of the upcoming Star Wars spin-off film, directed by Gareth Edwards and written by Gary Whitta, is rumored to be a heist movie. The film arrives on December 16, 2016. The film will reportedly be a heist to steal the Death Star plans, which eventually are given to the Rebels to kick off the original trilogy (which started in 1977 with A New Hope). The plans eventually lead to the Rebels successfully blowing up the death star. If the rumors of true, it will be a team of bounty hunters that tries to steal the plans.

The leader of the thieves is expected to be a major character in The Force Awakens. It was speculated this could be a younger version of Max von Sydow’s character. Since the film includes bounty hunters, it’s also possible that Boba Fett may be involved. However, there is currently a Boba Fett solo film in the works. It may be written by Lawrence Kasdan but will not be directed by Gareth Edwards.

The report also states that the Millennium Falcon will be involved, but Han Solo will not. This is slightly confusing since Solo had the ship in A New Hope.
