Super Smash Bros for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS will offer Mewtwo as paid downloadable content.
In response to a recent report, Nintendo has clarified that it isn't planning to release premium DLC beyond the veteran fighter.
"Mewtwo will be made available to purchase as add-on content in the future, and is also available as part of the Super Smash Bros Club Nintendo promotion, which offers consumers different ways to obtain this content," said a Nintendo representative.
"There are no other plans regarding paid add-on content at this stage."
The psychic Pokemon will be made available as free DLC in spring of 2015 for anyone who buys Super Smash Bros for both platforms.
Available now in North America, the Wii U version of Super Smash Bros hits Europe on November 28.
