A video posted by developer Nicalis today shows a loading screen for Mega Maw, a new boss for the top-down roguelike. A NeoGAF forum user pointed out the very first frame of the video which shows the Wii U dashboard before quickly disappearing.
Game designer Edmund McMillen may have also teased the game for Wii U on Twitter.
“Find something you liked?” McMillen asked.
“We don’t know about U, but I always do,” Nicalis founder Tyrone Rodriguez responded.
The original Binding of Isaac was denied a 3DS eShop release due to its religious themes. Former Nintendo indie boss, Dan Adelman, lamented Nintendo’s decision to not allow the game to release on 3DS.
“We carve out some categories of content we don’t allow,” Adelman told IGN. “The easiest solution, of course, at least from the outside, is that Nintendo should simply adjust its restrictive policies.”
No official announcement has been made for the pseudo-sequel for Wii U so it is unclear if Nintendo has indeed relaxed its policies regarding religious themes in games.
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth’s release date was recently announced for PS4, PS Vita and PC. The game will launch on November 4.
