Nintendo has announced that the Wii U version of Super Smash Bros. will make the promised holiday 2014 release. The company has announced a November 21 release date in North America. Nintendo Europe has lined the game up for a December 5 release in that territory.

The first wave of Amiibos (Mario, Peach, Yoshi, Donkey Kong, Link, Fox, Samus, Wii Fit Trainer, Villager, Pikachu, Kirby, Marth) will arrive on the same day. A second wave of Amiibos, including Zelda, Diddy Kong, Luigi, Pit, Captain Falcon, and Little Mac will be along on December 19 in Europe and sometime that month in North America.

Nintendo has also announced that the Gamecube controller ($29.99) will launch alongside Super Smash Bros. The game will also be available in a bundle with the a Gamecube controller and an adapter that allows players to use legacy gamepads ($99.99). The adapter will be sold separately for $19.99. Europe is getting a bundle that combines the game with a Mario Amiibo.

700-800 bucks id say. Youd need a 3DS or whatever the new Pokemon is coming out on, and a Wii U to play the console version of Smash.

He could get the 3DS version of the Smash game. It probably isn't as good as the console version, but I've heard good things about it.

A 3DS is gonna cost him $200 or less. Pokemon Omega Ruby or Alpha Sapphire and Smash Bros would be another $80, together.

A Wii U costs $299.99. A Controller Pro (a more normal looking controller) costs about twenty bucks.

A 3DS is 170.

They're releasing an adapter that'll sell for 20 bucks that'll let you use Gamecube controllers for Smash WiiU, if you have any of those.

The 3DS version is fantastic. I'm sure the Wii U version will be better, but if you don't want to spend all that money, the 3DS version should be fine.
