A few years back killer shark flicks were all the rage, with “Deep Blue Sea” and “Shark Night 3D” just two of the ferocious flake movies that the multiplexes had ‘em lining up for. It’s been a while since a great white terrorized hot chicks on screen though. Timely then that Sony should pick up Tony Jaswinski’s spec script “In the Deep”.

The script, which apparently was sought by quite a few major studios, is billed as “127 Hours meets Jaws with a dash of Gravity”.

Deadline has the synopsis :

A young woman who is dealing with the recent death of her mother is surfing on an isolated beach and gets stranded 20 yards off shore on a buoy. What lies between her and the shore is a huge great white shark. It’s an emotional piece for a young twentysomething star.
