New Line Cinema announced today that production has begun on their new Vacation film. The movie is written and directed by Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley, who wrote Horrible Bosses and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2, and starts Ed Helms and Christina Applegate.
Following in his father's footsteps and hoping for some much-needed family bonding, a grown-up Rusty Griswold (Helms) surprises his wife, Debbie (Applegate), and their two sons with a cross-country trip back to America's "favorite family fun park," Walley World.
Also starring in the film are Chris Hemsworth as Stone Crandall, Rusty's irritatingly successful brother-in-law; Charlie Day as a river rafting guide and Skyler Gisondo and Steele Stebbins as Rusty's sons, James and Kevin. Chevy Chase and Beverly D'Angelo reprise their roles as Clark and Ellen Griswold from the classic Vacation comedies. Leslie Mann was reported yesterday to be circling the role of Rusty's sister Audrey.
