First off, props to Justin Roberts. I normally hate his announcing style, but he plays the host role really well.
My seats were actually pretty good for the 12 bucks I paid, I was the very first row of the stands behind the floor seats, but I was up near the stage, so my view was always obscured for tag matches by the guy not in the ring. Had a good view of the stage though.
1: Rhodes Brothers def. Los Matadores
-Dunno who were the heels were here. It seemed like Goldust and Cody were trying to be, but everyone was cheering them. El Torito was amusing, which I guess is a good thing. Solid match overall, but Stardust's reverse STO thing was uuuugly.
2: Adrian Neville (c) def. Tyler Breeze for the NXT title
-Neville was sick. Did a lot of crazy flippy shit and the crowd loved it. The whole place exploded when he hit his finisher. Breeze is meh, not too bad, but he isn't going anywhere fast.
They played a video about that kid with cancer that went to WrestleMania after this, so we all had the sads.
3: Sin Cara def. Titus O'Neil
-Cara and Heath Slater had a dance-off beforehand, which was dumb. Then Titus cut a promo. He almost gave himself X-Pac heat by saying "Penn State's not winning a national championship anytime soon". Then Cara beat him in like 5 seconds. TJ/10
At least Cara didn't botch.
4: Sheamus (c) def. Cesaro for the US title
-Best match of the night, but it got off to a hell of a slow start. Cesaro worked the crowd way too long. It turned out good though. Very back-and-forth. We got to see the Swing, and there were multiple Brogue Kick teases before he finally got it. There were like 20 people way behind me that were chanting really loud for Sheamus the whole time, so he ended up going into the crowd and coming over near me after the match. I got a high-five from him, so that was cool.
INTERMISSION
5: Paige (c) def. Natalya for the Divas title
-Good Lord, where do I start? Ok, you can tell Natalya absolutely loves what she does, because she took the time to high five absolutely everyone she could on her way down. And that makes me feel bad for her, because this match was the shits. I don't get Paige at all. I don't get why people like her. Sure she's hauntingly cute, she's got a nice ass, and she's solid in the ring, but....fuck her gimmick is awful. She tried to attack Nattie with some flowers...flowers...they rolled around the ring seductively for 2-3 minutes, almost got into a kinky 3-way with the referee, and Paige got one of the biggest pops of the night by putting the poor girl in a bodyscizzors and just...thrusting
. Her entire gimmick is perv-bait, and it's really dumb. She gave me a horrible first impression today.
6: The Usos & Khali def. The Wyatt Family
-I won't lie. I marked for Khali.
The guys beside me were shocked to find out the Usos were Rikishi's sons. The match was pretty good. Khali actually got a surprising amount of ringtime, but you could really tell he was having trouble walking, and could just barely get his leg over the top rope to get in the ring. But he worked ok, and actually got the pin on Harper. The Usos did some cool shit, Bray was Bray, all around solid match.
7: Cena def. Kane in a Street Fight
-Kane is awesome. Cena was cutting a promo about how we weren't loud enough, and maybe we were tired from the football game yesterday, and Kane just grabbed the microphone from him and clocked him with it.
I was surprised that there was no "Cena Sucks" chant, despite a pretty sizable "Let's Go Cena" at one point. It's quite promising, actually. The match was good, although a lot of it took place in the aisle with people blocking the view. They used chairs, they used the steps, Cena went and got a part of the barricade at one point and hit him with it. Kane went through a table at the end, and I marked so hard for that.
Good but not great show, I would have liked to see Ziggler, Reigns, Rollins, Jericho, etc, but what we got was acceptable. I enjoyed myself.
