I was working so I didn't get to watch it. I bet the main event was another classic though.

Jay Briscoe is a great wrestler. I didn't think he'd win it back though after his gay bashing on Twitter. But I guess we're removed enough from that.

I wish Elgin's reign didn't end so soon though. I guess now we know why he's been getting so many defenses.

It was supposed to be ACH challenging for the belt but he apparently had flight issues.

That would make more sense considering that 30 minute draw they had that Corino spoiled 30 seconds into the match. Funny

I got it and it was another very, very good show by ROH.

AJ Styles-Adam Cole was a really nice match, as you might expect.

Jay Briscoe-Elgin was very good, very physical and at least to me the result was shocking -- I think Austin Aries was the only previous two-time champ. It really makes sense considering Jay's previous reign was cut short by injury, and considering some lost star-power talent (like Steen), and to give him credit for how far he has come in developing his own character since going solo. His promos are maybe the best of any wrestler in the biz right now IMO.

Plus I completely mark for him.

And yes, the main event ... I don't know what you can say other than it was magnificent and breathtaking. Some guys are just completley made for each other, like Flair and Steamboat, and Young Buck$ and ReDRagon are like that -- I don't think it would be possible for them to have even an average match. Not just great spots, but great chemistry and creativity and just everything you could ask for.

The Decade-Addiction (formerly known as Bad Influence) match and Lethal's match were also good, but not super-great. Both told a story, which should be the point -- I think sometimes indy shows (not sure if it's fair to still call ROH an indy but its shows kind of set the template for what indy ippv shows should be, so ...) can turn into huge spotfests where every match is trying to be the match of the night and when that happens you can end up with a lot of stuff that just runs together. A good show needs proper pacing and needs to hit high points that really seem like high points, and this one did for me.

Of course, the most historic thing that happened was RD Evans getting the pin in the four-corners tag match to run his streak to 150 straight matches. I was in New Orleans when he won No. 83 and 100, I think (on consecutive days, as the second one was at a TV taping with like four shows taped). One of the neat little ROH things that is a strength of the promotion -- most everyone has something to do, there are midcard and lower-card storylines, the sort of stuff most "indies" just don't do.

Would have been even better with ACH (travel issues) and Silas Young (broken leg) there, but we got a really good Truth Martini promo on ACH at least. Love me some House of Truth.

On a small note, I think Moose is eventually going to be a WWE guy -- former Rams offensive lineman, very green but he's paying his dues and is already transforming his body. Not a lot of hosses in ROH so it's good to have a powerhouse to contrast with all the flippy little boys, and he's over as hell.

So I was very satisfied with the show. I'm not a WWE PPV basher, but quite frankly this one for my tastes was better than most of the big-boy shows. Definitely my favorite promotion.
