The voices of the crowd, indistinguishable as they form together throughout the arena to create a continuous buzz about the place. Dante Cross lost last week. As he sits in the corner now, his hands hanging through the ropes, the camera closes in to view his face. Cold and distant they seem, as if his mind is elsewhere though he now looks across the ring at his opponent for the night, James Charlisle. For his part, Charlisle stands ready in his corner of the ring, a solemn expression on his face as he looks out and over at Dante Cross in anticipation of the match to come. So unlike Cross in many ways, a guy who enjoys a life of fun, is loved and loves as well, and not a man to take up boasts upon himself as some would. So unlike Dante Cross, but yet…Charlisle enjoys destruction. Charlisle enjoys intimidating his opponent. Charlisle enjoys seeing his opponent lain out on the mat after he’s knocked them out. The thought of doing such to Dante Cross tonight has him beside himself without a doubt. The fact that this match is for a chance at the Cruiser-X belt only makes it all that much sweeter.

DING! DING! DING!

The sound of the bell brings Dante Cross out of his mind wandering stupor and to the match ahead. Also ahead is the body of James Charlisle coming straight at him. Cross slinks through the ropes and avoids the Cannonball Senton in the corner from Charlisle, who hits the corner back first, but upon impact, kicks his legs back and lands on his feet, placing his hand behind his back as he turns to the outside. Dante leaps from the ground on the outside onto the ring apron and is quick to step onto the middle, then top rope just as Charlisle turns to him. Cross takes another step again, this time onto the face of Charlisle as his foot catches the aussie right in the face and from there the Son of Sin flips backwards and in a show of nimble prowess, is able to take hold of the top rope while upside down in midair and swinging around to return to the ring apron. From the flip kick to the face, Charlisle stumbles backwards and falls onto his rear end. Dante Cross hops back into the ring and runs at his sitting opponent with for a Big Boot to the face of the big man. Charlisle shakes his head and looks up in time to catch the boot as it comes. He holds it firm as Dante tries to pull away when James begins to rise but to no avail, Cross now hopping on one foot. James is smiling now and brings up his hand and wags his finger at Cross. The Son of Sin shakes his head and brings his free leg up for an Enzuigiri kick to the side of Charlisle’s skull, but James is quick about ducking the incoming attack and once the leg sails past, Charlisle yanks at the leg within his grasp, sending Dante Cross face first into the mat. Dante looks to rise, but Charlisle is on him then. The Knockout King puts on his weight on Cross when he comes down on him, taking the wind out of the Son of Sin. Still holding the foot of Cross, Charlisle takes the other and pretzels the two as he himself rises to lock in the Sharpshooter on Dante Cross. Angling himself now, he moves the legs to one side and with both tucked under an arm, takes a foot and gives a sharp twist. With it done, James stoops and goes into a squatting position to add more force to the move. Dante Cross lets out a cry of pain from the mat as the JCU is all but locked in now. James’ weight, the sharpshooter, the ankle lock, it’s all culminated in a submission of pain for the Son of Sin as he clenches his fists on the mat. The referee bends down and asks Cross if he wants to end it. In answer, Cross gives the referee a damning glare and begins struggling to get to the ropes. Charlisle is the bigger opponent but Dante Cross is strong enough to fight against his power in the struggle to get the rope break. The Knockout King looks back and sees Cross nearing the ropes. Dante’s hands draw near the ropes. Charlisle releases the hold, and Dante’s hands grow further from the ropes as James pulls him by the legs and back into the middle of the ring. Right back into the JCU. As he does, James Charlisle lets out a giddy laugh at what’s just transpired and the prospect of putting a close to this match. Cross ends his pounding into the mat and instead places his hands against the canvas, raising himself up. With that, he tucks his head and reaches under himself to grab at the leg of Charlisle, and in a countering motion, rolls backwards once the leg is in his grasp. The results, a Single Legged Boston Crab on the Knockout King by the Son of Sin. A round of cheers and appreciation go out from the crowd for that reverse of fortune by Cross as he switches from the single to taking hold of both his opponents legs and bringing them up for the Gates of God, putting his boot onto Charlisle’s head as an added insult. James had little time to figure out what happened before the pain struck. He cried out and could do nothing but tap.

DING! DING! DING!
