No. The IC title should be a belt for the midcard/newer talent to go over w/. Cena is too massive of a celebrity now to go back down to that level considering how that belt has been used in recent years.

Very few main eventers can come down to the IC Title and actually be convincing with it, Jericho being one of the few imo. They just look out of place otherwise, like when the put it on Triple H in 2001.

If they want the belt to have more credibility, have it as the centre of storylines and solid rivalries.

only way I could see Cena winning the ic title, is if they had a champion vs champion match with both the WWE and IC title on the line and he won it.

When you have people like Jericho and HHH holding the title belt for months, all the way to guys being IC Champs for only a few days, or even one, it's hard to imagine the face of the company who's held the World Title 13-times is going to be holding that championship again.

I think you can make it work if you had a promo where Cena states that without The IC Title he'll never be A GRAND SLAM CHAMPION!!! Have him feud with The IC Champion. Maybe pull some Honkey Tonk stuff and maybe you'll get a money program.

No matter what since Cena never shown interest in the title before it will be hard for people to bite Cena chasing The IC Champion. Cena is also a character, in my view point anyway, that's above hate or grudges so you can't really play that angle into it.
