Juventus have appointed Massimiliano Allegri as their new coach just 18 hours after Antonio Conte's decision to step down as manager.

Conte, who was under contract with Juve for a further season, surprisingly parted company with the Italian champions on Tuesday after three successful years in charge.

"Massimiliano Allegri will be unveiled at 1500 on Wednesday as the new coach of Juventus," the club's press officer Gabriella Ravizzotti told Press Association Sport.

Allegri has reportedly agreed a two-year contract with Juve and will earn an estimated €2m per season.

The 46-year-old Allegri had been out of a job since being dismissed by AC Milan in January, with the Rossoneri in the midst of a nightmare season when they trailed Juve by as many as 30 points.

The difficult campaign at Milan has not damaged the coaching prospects of Allegri, who joined the San Siro outfit in 2010 after two successful seasons in charge of Cagliari.

The Tuscan-born tactician led the Rossoneri to the scudetto and the Italian Supercup in 2010-11, his first season in charge, and was voted by his peers as 2011's Serie A coach of the Year.

Conte joined Juve from Siena in 2011 and led the Turin outfit to a third consecutive title in the 2013-14 campaign, the first time the club had achieved the feat since a five-season title run in the 1930s.

A former Juve midfielder, Conte also guided the side to a record 102 points last season to become the first team in Italy to break the 100-points mark.
