Predator is getting rebooted, courtesy of 20th Century Fox.
The remake of the classic '80s action movie already has Lethal Weapon screenwriter Shane Black attached, says The Hollywood Reporter.
Arnold Schwarzenegger in 'Predator'
Black will write the treatment for the film, before handing over to The Monster Squad's Fred Dekker to complete the scripting.
John Davis, who produced the original Predator with Joel Silver and Lawrence Gordon, is producing the new reboot, while Black is also attached to direct.
Predator was released in 1987 and starred Arnold Schwarzenegger as Major Alan 'Dutch' Schaefer. A sequel, Predator 2, was made in 1990 but Schwarzenegger did not appear.
It was then combined with the Alien franchise for two Alien vs. Predator movies released in 2004 and 2007. In 2010, Predators - the second direct sequel - was released.
Iron Man 3 director Black is also developing a film based on adventurer Doc Savage, and has suggested that Chris Hemsworth may be suitable for the title role.
