Street Fighter series producer Yoshinori Ono has confirmed that Street Fighter V is currently in the early planning stages of development, while taking the opportunity to slap down rumours that it will incorporate a pay to win system.
Earlier reports had stated that in an attempt to prevent new players from getting their asses kicked online, “Capcom is looking into possibly implementing some kind of pay-for-advantage system in Street Fighter 5 that will allow new players to cover for their lack of skill in matches.”
However, it turns out that’s not true. Speaking on Twitter Ono said, "The SFV news today about a pay to win model is not accurate and isn't something we're planning for. Sorry for the confusion! We're still in early planning stages and will share more at a later date."
So that’s that. Unsurprisingly, the game is in early development, but you won’t be expected to splash the cash for advantages.
