The "WWE has done stupider things." group

"The Demon" Kane - I'm ruling out all members in the Authority/Shield spider web of angles that wouldn't immediately drop the title to Daniel Bryan, which leaves Kane and excludes Triple H, Randy Orton, and Seth Rollins. The only way one of them wins the belt is if the next six to eight months of TV is written around Roman Reigns become THE TOP GUY, and I just don't think it is. That's not WWE's style. They're going to want to milk the "YES" movement. Daniel will be reinserted in the title picture when he can go.

Alberto Del Rio - A legitimate main event heel that could do simple defenses while Daniel got back into shape, and that isn't involved in the Authority/Shield angle? He seems the part.


The "Do the writers have a plan?" group

Cesaro - What's more valuable to the WWE than the "YES" movement? Probably nothing, but Cesaro vs. Lesnar at Battleground would make sense if Lesnar was available. (A 1 month title reign for Cesaro? Booo says everyone) but still, Lesnar with the title going into Summerslam would give you the option to have him do an angle with Dave Batista, which I'm sure is on the docket before they ride off into the sunset.

Sheamus - If he's a heel it makes sense. If he's a face, and for some reason he's kind of over, it doesn't.

Chris Jericho - The talk is he'll be back for a summer run at some point soon. Is it soon enough to have a title run heading into Summerslam? How should I know?

The "It makes sense." group

Rusev - Yep. Rusev with the title does make sense. They've half-assed his build so far but have made a larger effort recently. He's ultimately pegged to have a main event run and they really only have one other option that makes more sense.

Bray Wyatt - The guy I believe, as of writing this, wins. Bray was, in my opinion, set to be Daniel Bryan's next opponent anyway. John Cena and Bray Wyatt will likely be added to the match, and I think they'll make Boston thing Cena has the match won, only for the arena to go dark and have The Wyatt Family knock the ladder over for a somewhat big bump, leaving Bray to win the title. Bray can beat him at Battleground, having Rusev run down to attack Cena, setting up Cena and Rusev for Summerslam and setting up Bray for a match against Daniel Bryan at Summerslam.
