Vince Russo has posted a new wrestling blog on his official website, PyroandBallyhoo.com, where he gives an in-depth look at the issues and obstacles TNA has to deal with on a regular basis. Russo's blog is an attempt to show fans a detailed look at TNA's business model — one that makes it extremely difficult for the writers of "any" television show, not just pro wrestling.

Russo mentions that it's not Creative that is the problem in TNA because that's all "subjective", but rather, it's the things you don't see play out on screen, including the rigorous taping schedule, the "tourist" fans of the Impact Zone and other factors.

Personally, I think it's one of Vince Russo's best blogs since he debuted his new site, and certainly worth the read, whether you agree or disagree with him.

Check out a snippet below:

"In my opinion, having worked there, what’s hindering TNA more than anything right now, are major factors that lay “outside” the ring. Again, the creative is all subjected, and can be adjusted — if need be – but the financials — the costs to operate — are FACTUAL, much like TV numbers.

For starters, and I don’t need to tell anybody this, including the brass at TNA — trust me, they know — the environment inside the “Impact Zone” is not ideal for what TNA is attempting to put across your TV screen every week. Universal Studios is a “tourist” attraction, so primarily, TNA is drawing “tourists” to watch IMPACT, not die-hard “wrestling fans”. The truth is, many of those people attending might just be wanting to get out from under the scorching Florida sun. As you know, attendance to IMPACT is free, so there is no cost if you’re just looking to stay in the shade for a few hours. But, this isn’t anything that anybody doesn’t know. We all see it every Thursday night. But, no one knows first hand how much an audience can affect your show than me.

You see, when you write a wrestling show, you’re writing it knowing that the fans “cheer” here, the fans “boo” there — that’s how you write any wrestling show. Well, at Universal, you’re not always getting the response your writing for, simply because many of your customers are simple not die-hard wrestling fans. Also, add to that, the performers get FUELED by you — the fans. The less “true” wrestling fans rooting you on — less gas in the tank. That’s just human nature. Unfortunately, in getting back to the facts, at this point in their business plan – Universal Studios is the best route for TNA to take. Are they aware of all the problems? They certainly are, and there is no doubt in my mind that if they had the ability right now to change that – they would – simply because – why wouldn’t they?

But, aside from the lackluster, vacationing crowds, I think there is a much bigger problem that TNA is faced to deal with every week…"

That's horseshit. As pointed out already, Full Sail is a college campus and they draw "wrestling fans" not college students. TNA draws tourists because their product is terrible and no actual wrestling fan wants to pay to see the 3rd best promotion in the US with a national TV deal and money to sign guys like Angle and Sting suck dick so consistently.

Yeah That

TNA's creative team really hindered that promotion. A major problem is that it's run by Dixie Carter. It's too bad Bob Carter can't so no to her flower or else we would have seen Toby Keith buy it out.

I think he has a point, but it's certainly not THE main factor. I have got tired of seeing dumbass blondes pushed into the front row who just cheer and boo for anyone and anything that happens. The Impact Zone has usually always had a terrible atmosphere due to the crowd and it's smallness plus I do feel that, from time to time, that has made the wrestlers only half care in the ring.

They should have done what they were going to now and that's slowly move on the road, with block tapings in different arenas. It doesn't need to be live every week or even every second week (despite live always being better), but as long as the crowd gets refreshed every so often, it'll come across better on TV. I imagine staying in any one place for a company that's meant to be the second best one will only suck it dry. A few arenas they went to last year were also a bit quiet, but that's because TNA suck horse shit at selecting arenas. I saw a YT thing on it once saying that WWE looks at which cities give Raw the bets ratings and then take the show to those places, while TNA basically just threw a dart onto the US map and went wherever it landed...

And NXT hasn't been in that building for ten years yet. Impact has been in that place for so long, I often recognise members of the audience just as much as I do the wrestlers lol. But of course the whole crowd isn't just tourists, but it's the same people a lot of the time, so they aren't as energetic as another crowd might be. Sometimes, during segments, the crowd goes SO fucking quiet and it comes across terrible on TV.

I just hope that now they are moving away from it for good and just tour in block tapings. If going to Orlando again for a few months helped stabilise the ship, that's awesome. Just don't fuck it up AGAIN and end up going back. They need to get the TNA brand out there, make it a known company. So many casual fans still don't know it exists.
