Unfortunately, it will be a very tough road for the ninth-place Knicks to make a run for the playoffs. Although they have clicked on all cylinders this month, the Atlanta Hawks have won five straight games and hold the eighth and final playoff seed.
Both the Knicks and Hawks will face 10 more teams this season with a winning record. It’s hard to make a solid prediction on how the outcome may unfold, but so far it favors Atlanta and their 31-35 record. New York will need to finish off the season stronger than Atlanta and add many more wins to their current record of 28-40.
However, the Knicks have given away too many losses earlier in the season. Since Atlanta is 4.5 games ahead of New York, it means the Knicks will not be able to decide their fate. The Hawks will need to lose five more games than the Knicks in order for New York to enter the postseason.
The Knicks hope to continue their run on Friday when they face a Philadelphia 76ers team currently on an historic 22-game losing streak.

Bobcats are right there too. Knicks slacked off for way too long... but their chances aren't the worst. They just need 1 out of 2 of those teams to pretty much fall apart. If they do get the 8 and Indiana stays at the 1 seed I actually like their chances for an upset now, though. Hypothetically that would mean they'd be playing at their peak heading into the playoffs while the Pacers have been slumping after that hot start (which may have been their peak this year). It'd be kind of a situation of nothing to lose (because it looked over a long time ago) but everything to gain (since this is still a team that is desperately going for a championship NOW.

Amare is talking about playing in Europe next year fool. Honestly, if the Lakers won't win the lottery and get Wiggins, I could see Love trying to force his way to NY if Carmelo stays.

Knicks should go with a platoon at the other forward depending on match-ups. Lots of teams going to a smaller 4 look.

I'd be sooooo hyped up for next season if the Knicks got Love & kept Melo. That would be amazing.

Well I've heard Love has an affinity for the Lakers from his time on the west coast. If that's true, one could assume the Phil Jackson deal was potentially a big get from his perspective.

no cap space and no one is trading for Bargnani (worthless as shit) best hope is to just start JR smith and hope Shumpert improves more on offense lol if they trade shumpert and/or hardaway, with Barganani, then you have something going, even if its just a 1st round pick and a little bit of cap space doesnt every team have the mini-mid level exception? |
