- WWE began selling new CM Punk-branded merchandise during WrestleMania 30. Whether Punk is making any profit off of it isn't known, as it's a potentially sticky legal situation depending on copyrights and contract status. The report claims that Punk essentially breached his contract by walking out on WWE, which would allow the company to sell their existing merchandise inventory. As for new content being produced and sold while he isn't active, that's a bit different.

Steve Austin has said that he didn't make any money for the merchandise sold when he walked out. That being said, the company didn't produce new Austin merchandise during that hiatus.

Sounds fairly stupid to me. There is no reason given as to why the WWE couldn't sell new merch...

He's under contract. That's not under debate. That should be the end of the discussion. He's under contract, they can sell whatever they want.

Why would anyone want to buy merchandise for a person who's no longer with the company?

He was never released from said contract, so technically he still works for them...he just doesnt show up. The question shouldnt be whether or not they can sell new stuff, it should be WHY they're selling new stuff, especially considering they refuse to show him on video packages and they removed him from certain graphics.

They showed him in the latest WWE Countdown.

Maybe it was a work after all, and he'll return when Vince does.

Those episodes were taped in 2012 though i do believe, because in some of them Daniel Bryan doesnt have the wild beard/goatee and long hair.

Aint hard to edit him out and put in new commentary, though...

He's not going to be re-recording commentary for old episodes if he's not talking to the company lol.

I don't reckon he's making money.

Why couldn't they use, say, literally ANYONE else to put in new commentary and edit him out?

Why would they go back and re-edit a show that was taped 2 years ago?

The parts he's in for some of them are literally seconds long...it's a waste of time to go back and remove those clips   

You made a comment about them refusing to show him in graphics and in video packages. It might be AS hard, but it's likely significantly easier to take a 4 second clip out of a 46 minute video with someone new replacing Punk (Or even just not replacing him at all) as it is to take him out of a graphic or a video package.

Yeah it wouldn't be too hard I guess to take someone's commentary out. WWE did it when editing out Joel Gertner's sexual innuendos on their ECW DVDs.
